Artist Statement
Originally from Evansville, Indiana, I started making pots as an art major in college when I took an elective class in ceramics and got hooked on working in clay.
I received a degree from Indiana State University in Three Dimensional Design. I am a multi-media artist working in ceramics, watercolors, acrylics on canvas & sculpture.
I worked with master wood carvers in Bali, Indonesia in a collaboration producing limited edition sculptures based on my designs. These painted wood carvings have been featured in galleries and collections world-wide. I have been an instructor at the Opus Foundation Pottery Workshops in Colorado, Adams State College Watercolor Workshop in Taos, New Mexico and at Shemer Art Center in Phoenix, Arizona. I have owned art galleries in Morrison,Colorado, Taos,New Mexico & Scottsdale, Arizona.
My pots are primarily wheel-thrown. Although I have extensive experience in traditional stoneware and salt-glaze firing, I am currently producing "one of a kind" Raku (and variations).
